What is the ATSA?
The Air Traffic Skills Assessment is the computer-based aptitude test the FAA uses when hiring air traffic controller trainees. Applicants take it at a Pearson VUE test center, and candidates describe a sitting of about three and a half hours, including up to 30 minutes of optional breaks.
It mixes fast game-style tasks, which test memory, attention and spatial judgment, with a work style questionnaire, reading and logical reasoning. Results are reported as a band rather than a number, and candidates report that a score stays valid for three years.
The FAA says no preparation is necessary and does not endorse any practice material, including ours. What we offer is familiarity: realistic, original exercises in each format so nothing on the day is a surprise.

What is the ATSA?
The Air Traffic Skills Assessment is the aptitude test the FAA uses for people applying to become air traffic controller trainees, including off-the-street and CTI applicants. It is taken on a computer at a Pearson VUE test center, and candidates describe a session of roughly three and a half hours including breaks.
Is this the official ATSA or real test content?
No. ATSA Practice is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA, Pearson VUE or the test's developers. Every item is original, generated from public descriptions of the test, so the look, timing and scoring will not be identical to the real assessment.
The FAA says no preparation is needed. Why practice?
That is the FAA's position, and the test is designed to measure aptitude. What practice can do is make the formats familiar, so the first time you see a flashing digit chain or a forced-choice questionnaire is not on test day. We never promise a score or a band.
How is the ATSA scored?
Candidates receive a band rather than a number, and the FAA's recent materials treat "Well Qualified" as the top band referred for hiring. How section scores combine into bands is not public. Our mock report gives an unofficial estimate that is only a rough guide to your own progress.
How long is an ATSA score valid?
Scores have been reported as valid for three years, and a retake replaces your previous score even if it is lower. Check the current FAA announcement for the rules that apply to you.
What is the difference between Standard and Complete?
Standard ($29) unlocks unlimited practice and timed runs for the four game-style sections: Number Differences, Memory Variables, Visual Relationships and the ATC Simulation. Does it work on a phone?
Yes, every section works on phones and tablets with on-screen keypads and buttons. The real test is taken on a computer with a keyboard, so a desktop or laptop gives the most realistic practice, especially for the ATC Simulation.
