About the Work Style section
The work style part of the ATSA is a personality-style questionnaire in a forced-choice format. Instead of rating each statement, you pick which of several statements is most like you and which is least like you, even when you agree with all of them.
There is nothing to memorize and no trick answers. The value of practicing is familiarity: knowing the format, keeping a steady pace through a long set, and answering honestly and consistently rather than second-guessing what a recruiter wants.
Our version uses original statements and shows a plain-language summary of the preferences you expressed, with a consistency check, so you can see how you come across.
Tips from practice
- Answer as you actually are at work, not as you imagine an ideal controller would.
- Do not overthink a single group; first reactions tend to be the most consistent.
- Keep an even pace. It is a long set and fatigue shows up as inconsistency.
Common questions
- Can you fail the work style section?
- It is not a knowledge test, and how the FAA weighs it is not public. Treat practice here as getting comfortable with the format, not as a way to learn right answers.
- Why is it included in Complete only?
- Standard covers the four game-style sections. Complete adds the three question-based sections and the full mock tests.
